marin.org/MIDAS Managed Services
The following services are managed and administered by Marinfo LLC for the Marin
Telecommunications Agency - marin.org/MIDAS operations. Services are for the
benefit of Marin governments, public agencies, libraries, not for profits and schools.
Messaging
We provide sophisticated messaging service for organizations.
E-mail may be accessed/sent/saved/deleted from anyplace in the world over the
Internet using a web browser. Messaging for work groups can be established
with message archives for the convenience and review of participants. Individual and
shared organization calendaring is available as well as the ability to create organization
or employee web pages.
Away from the Office - Remote Access
Management and staff of organizations can be provided secure remote access over
the Internet to their desktops using the marin.org/MIDAS Citrix server. This is an
appealing and economical solution for provision of convenient remote access. Electing
to use the marin.org/MIDAS Citrix server smaller organizations bypass a substantial capital
investment and the need to maintain the service with in house IT staff.
Web Site Hosting
marin.org/MIDAS provides web hosting services on a Windows 2000 server for 90
web sites. The marin.org/MIDAS servers are housed with the www.marin.org central
database.
Domain Name Hosting
There are two components to owning and using a domain name (mydomain.domain):
- Registration of the domain with a registrar, and
- maintenance of the domain on a domain name server.
marin.org/MIDAS can register a domain(s) for you and keep it up to date or you may
register the domain and keep it up to date yourself.
marin.org/MIDAS can manage your domain on its domain name server. The domain
name server is used primarily to direct web traffic users to look for your web
site and email to the your mail server post office.
marin.org/MIDAS acts as host to over 180 domains.
